woww it's been forever since I've blogged! I had every intention of keeping up with it, too...yeahhh right. Last night while laying in bed trying to fall alseep my husband suddently asked, 'Hey, how's your blog babe'? and BAM: that was the first time I had thought about my blog in months. So, I guess it's time for a quick update on our life here in Annapolis!
We still aren't fans of Annapolis. However, the people we meet help us to love it just a little more each and every day :) We have continued to meet many great couples at church, as well as some friends from work and nearby military instillations. Our beagles even have friends! It doesn't hurt to have some family close, either-we have been to western Virginia three times now to see my family and get a away for a few days. They have come to see us, too!
Work for Travis is the same. He is still working hard, trying to open his heart to why he's here and what God wants him to accomplish during his time on shore duty. He went underway for the month of June to N and S Carolina, and will be in Boston from mid-July through August. Summer is flying by! He is toying with the idea of furthering his diesel or automotive education this year in the evenings, but for now is still planning on starting getting back into his bachelor's degree once fall starts. We will see! Pray for him :)
I still love my job! It is the hardest, most stressful thing I've ever done, and I surely have never been this busy, but I know that I'm really making a difference in these individuals' lives, not to mention gaining some great experience in the field. My plan is to hold the job for a year, and then see where life takes me. I'm currently working with adults, but would love some more time with senior citizens in the near future. Only God knows what the future holds! I will say that we are enjoying being able to ues the second income to bulk up our savings while we are childless, get out and see some things, and further the Kingdom. We really are living the life, and need to be more aware of our blessings each and every day.
It's very hot here! I hear that it's just as hot back home, too, stay cool guys! We had a horrid storm last Friday that knocked out our power for four days. Fortunately we live on the lowest level and our apartment didn't get too hot without air conditioning. I was a sore sight at church and work without hot water or electricity, but we made out just fine, if not even better than we were before as our eyes were opened once again to how blessed we are. We had to eat out, throw out all of our food, and spend our weekend at the movies and malls, but we had the means to do it all....last year, that wouldn't have been the case.
This weekend we are going back to Virginia Beach (our first home together!) to see some of Travis' friends from his old command before they get out of the Navy this month and move back to their home states. Travis is very excited to have some male interaction, and I cannot wait to hit the beach, it's been far too long! The weekend away came at a convienent time, too: our truck is due for an inspection this month and our vehicles (except my work car) are all still registered in Virginia since we will move back there in early 2015.
I hope you are all doing well. I hate being so far away and missing weddings, time with friends and familys, etc, but our life is good here. Be Blessed!
Deidre :)
